Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement strategic advocacy initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
- Guide senior business leaders on legislative, regulatory, and political developments impacting key jurisdictions or policy domains.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with government representatives, regulators, trade groups, and external partners.
- Demonstrate understanding of state-level legislative systems, regulatory procedures, and political dynamics.
- Negotiate public policy positions in challenging environments and represent the organization before state legislatures and senior regulatory bodies.
- Identify, manage, and resolve standard political and regulatory challenges; escalate complex issues as needed.
- Support expansion and retention of major state contracts, particularly in Medicaid and public sector programs within assigned regions.
- Address high-priority legislative and regulatory matters, including insurance rates, product policy, state budgeting, and funding decisions.
- Oversee external consultants, contractors, and vendors involved in government affairs and policy initiatives, ensuring performance and accountability.
