About the Role

Lead Banquet Captain

Oversee the full lifecycle of banquet and catering events, from initial planning to final breakdown, ensuring every detail supports a high standard of guest service. • Assign roles and responsibilities to staff before and during events, ensuring alignment with event orders and service expectations.
  • Review banquet menus and event details in advance, conducting pre-service meetings to confirm hygiene standards, station assignments, and team readiness.
  • Coordinate with kitchen leadership and event planners to verify food timing, quantities, and special requests, communicating changes promptly.
  • Ensure all necessary service items—china, glassware, linens, and equipment—are available and properly stored; initiate requisitions when inventory is insufficient.
  • Inspect room layouts prior to guest arrival and confirm food dispatch timelines with the Executive Chef.
  • Monitor service throughout events, conducting spot checks on food temperature, presentation, availability, and staff up-selling performance.
  • Track event schedules and updates, adapting to changes in real time while maintaining operational safety and compliance.
  • Complete required training for responsible alcohol service and adhere to all state regulations.
  • Maintain regular attendance and support additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in banquet, catering, or hospitality operations, or a combination of relevant training and education. Prior leadership in banquet settings is preferred. All applicants must meet state-mandated age requirements for serving alcohol and complete certified beverage service training.
