About the Role
The intern will assist in developing and maintaining actuarial models, support financial reporting, and contribute to pricing and reserving processes while gaining exposure to regulatory standards and business strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support the creation and validation of actuarial models for life and health products
- Assist in preparing data for regulatory filings and financial statements
- Analyze historical claims and mortality data to identify trends
- Collaborate with team members on pricing initiatives for new and existing products
- Perform calculations for statutory and GAAP reserve requirements
- Help maintain documentation for actuarial methods and assumptions
- Conduct sensitivity testing on key assumptions in financial models
- Prepare summaries of actuarial results for internal stakeholders
- Participate in projects related to risk assessment and capital modeling
- Utilize software tools for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Review policy forms and coverage terms for actuarial implications
- Support audits and examinations by regulatory bodies
- Assist in benchmarking against industry practices and competitor data
- Contribute to the development of internal reporting dashboards
- Engage in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Work with cross-functional teams to align actuarial inputs with business goals
- Validate input data accuracy for actuarial computations
- Research regulatory updates affecting life and health insurance
- Apply actuarial principles to real-world insurance scenarios
- Develop professional communication skills through documentation and presentations
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and customer data
- Meet deadlines for recurring actuarial reporting cycles
- Use version control practices for model updates
- Gain familiarity with actuarial certification requirements
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the department
