MGID was looking for a Junior Lawyer / Legal Counsel

This role supports the company's global Legal team by handling routine legal and administrative tasks with a focus on employment law and HR compliance. You will prepare and maintain employment agreements, addendums, and HR documents under the guidance of senior legal professionals, ensuring accuracy and alignment across jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily administrative support to the legal department, including document formatting, translation, template management, and tracking internal requests
  • Review, draft, and update employment contracts and related documentation in line with evolving business needs
  • Manage and refine a centralised library of legal and HR templates to ensure consistency and ease of use across regions
  • Track legislative changes in labour laws across applicable countries, summarise key developments, and alert senior staff to potential impacts
  • Support compliance assessments by identifying procedural risks in HR workflows and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Help develop and revise internal policies, codes of conduct, and HR procedures to reflect legal requirements and company standards
  • Act as the initial contact for HR teams on common employment matters, such as onboarding, offboarding, and standard employee inquiries
  • Prepare concise legal summaries, internal memos, and reference notes on employment-related topics
  • Assist with complex legal processes like disciplinary actions, terminations, and organisational restructuring, gaining greater responsibility over time
  • Ensure all legal records and communications are systematically maintained and easily retrievable

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Law degree from a recognised institution and have at least one year of experience in a legal or paralegal role—either in-house, at a firm, or within HR—where they gained hands-on exposure to legal documentation. Strong written and spoken English (Upper-Intermediate or higher) is essential, as is fluency in Ukrainian. Candidates should demonstrate genuine interest in administrative precision and take satisfaction in well-executed operational tasks.

You must be able to research unfamiliar legal systems, interpret regulations, and apply findings practically. Clear communication, professionalism when interacting with cross-functional teams, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethics are required. Prior focus on Labour or Employment Law is highly beneficial.

Work Environment

The position operates on a remote-first basis, with team members across Ukraine and Europe (UTC+0 to UTC+3). If based in Kyiv, occasional office presence is optional. A minimum two-hour overlap with European business hours is expected. The legal team values practical thinking, efficiency, and views legal work as an enabler of business goals. This role offers a path to deepen expertise in employment law within a globally operating organisation.
