Install, service, and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including chiller and non-chiller equipment, with a focus on precision diagnostics, pipefitting, and brazing. Conduct thorough testing and inspection of new and existing systems to confirm proper operation and reliability. Use advanced tools and software to program control systems, analyze performance data, and ensure optimal efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues using logical problem-solving methods
- Replace or repair faulty components, wiring, and controls independently
- Perform on-site start-ups and verify system functionality after installation
- Program microcontrollers and download control sequences using computers and touchscreens
- Educate building operators and owners on equipment use, maintenance schedules, and system features
- Prepare wiring diagrams and maintain accurate service records
- Communicate technical details clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify and report potential upgrade opportunities to internal sales teams
- Complete hazard assessments and follow all safety protocols, including wearing required PPE
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards
- Submit timecards, inventory reports, and service documentation promptly
- Collaborate with project teams and owner representatives during system demonstrations
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an HVAC certificate or associate degree from a technical program, along with at least five years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC service. A valid driver’s license with a clean record is required. State-specific HVAC licensing and EPA Universal Certification are mandatory, depending on location.
Proficiency with control systems, intelligent equipment, VRF/VRV technology, and magnetic bearing systems is essential. Experience with chiller systems (CATI) and non-chiller HVAC (CATII) is highly valued.
