Kirby Group Engineering is hiring an IT Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and support physical IT systems such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers at project sites
  • Establish and oversee local IT setups, including network connectivity, wireless access, and user devices
  • Assist in commissioning IT infrastructure for newly launched project locations
  • Provision and administer cloud resources in Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, networking components, and storage solutions
  • Support hybrid IT environments that integrate on-premises systems with Azure cloud services
  • Maintain secure remote access through management of Azure-based VPN connections
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and implement optimizations for reliability and efficiency
  • Identify and resolve network and connectivity problems across geographically dispersed sites
  • Ensure stable and secure communication links between remote project locations and central systems
  • Coordinate with internet service providers and external vendors to ensure consistent network availability
  • Diagnose and fix issues related to hardware, software, and system infrastructure
  • Carry out regular system updates, patching, and lifecycle management for IT assets
  • Continuously monitor system uptime, performance, and security posture across environments
  • Enforce security standards and best practices throughout the infrastructure stack
  • Collaborate with security teams to align infrastructure operations with compliance requirements
  • Support data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of IT equipment and assets through systematic tracking
  • Create and update technical documentation for deployed systems and solutions
  • Assist in generating reports on system performance, usage trends, and incident history
  • Collaborate with internal IT staff, project leads, and on-site personnel to meet operational goals
  • Provide direct technical assistance and guidance to end users when necessary
  • Engage with vendors and external support teams to expedite resolution of technical issues

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing on-premises infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and end-user devices
  • Proven track record working with Microsoft Azure services such as virtual machines, networking, and storage
  • Hands-on experience in hybrid environments combining on-premises and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure and connectivity problems

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Azure networking solutions such as VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Azure-native utilities
  • Knowledge of infrastructure security principles and industry best practices

Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage site IT environments, including connectivity, wireless networks, and end-user equipment
  • Support commissioning of IT infrastructure for new project sites
  • Deploy and manage Azure resources (Virtual Machines, networking, storage)
  • Support and troubleshoot hybrid environments connecting on-premise infrastructure to Azure
  • Manage and maintain Azure VPN connectivity for secure remote access
  • Monitor and optimise performance of cloud infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues across multiple locations
  • Ensure resilient, secure connectivity between project sites and central systems
  • Work with ISPs and third-party providers to maintain network uptime
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure issues
  • Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of IT systems
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security across environments
  • Implement and maintain security best practices across infrastructure
  • Collaborate with internal security teams to meet compliance requirements
  • Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes
  • Track IT assets and maintain accurate inventory
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for systems and solutions
  • Contribute to reporting on system health, usage, and incidents
  • Work closely with internal IT teams, project managers, and site personnel
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to end users when required
  • Engage with vendors and support providers to resolve issues efficiently

Required

  • Strong experience supporting on-premise infrastructure (servers, networking, end-user devices)
  • Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage)
  • Experience in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud connectivity)
  • Solid networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and connectivity issues

Preferred

  • Experience with Azure networking (VPN / ExpressRoute)
  • Exposure to automation or scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Azure tools)
  • Understanding of infrastructure security best practices
