Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer instructions are accurate and that required permits or licenses are secured to comply with international regulations.
- Select and book ocean carriers based on cost, availability, and service quality.
- Organize the transport of full and partial truckloads to trans-load locations, considering facility expenses, port delays, and carrier pricing.
- Enter shipment details into logistics systems, release orders to inspection sites, and distribute freezer temperature reports.
- Submit export data to the Automated Export System to meet federal reporting mandates.
- Track container movements during land and sea transit and verify customs clearance with clients upon arrival.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving international trade regulations and market-specific requirements.
- Manage unexpected logistics issues daily, including rescheduling shipments when necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or three years of experience in import/export logistics.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Capable of working autonomously while knowing when to seek guidance.
- Effective interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to carry out job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in logistics scheduling and planning is advantageous.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
