Employment Hero is hiring an Intermediate Software Engineer (PHP). In this role, you will be accountable for building a high-performance, scalable WordPress site from the ground up. You'll design and develop bespoke solutions tailored to modern WordPress architecture, utilizing the full potential of the Gutenberg editor with a focus on performance, security, and minimal reliance on external plugins.

What We're Looking For
- Experience in PHP development with a strong background in Laravel, Symfony, or other modern PHP frameworks.
- Willingness to learn and work with WordPress and Gutenberg.
- Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
- Experience working with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database design.
- Strong understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or cloud-based deployments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience with unit testing & E2E testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in building and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Some experience in developing custom WordPress plugins and themes.
- Understanding of JavaScript, particularly React (used in Gutenberg blocks).
- Knowledge of modern frontend technologies such as React, Vue.js, or Tailwind CSS.
- Familiarity with headless CMS architectures.
- Prior experience working in a SaaS or product-based company.
- Experience working with hosting infrastructure, Reverse Proxy, CDN, WAF, etc.
