MissionWired is hiring an INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

  • Help deploy network security controls such as firewalls, intrusion prevention and detection systems, and proxy solutions under supervision.
  • Set up fundamental network security policies and access control lists based on predefined designs.
  • Contribute to network segmentation efforts and assist with VLAN setup.
  • Support the configuration of virtual private networks and secure remote access solutions.
  • Assist in deploying and configuring security tools like SIEM, endpoint detection and response, and endpoint protection platforms.
  • Help integrate security technologies into existing infrastructure with oversight.
  • Support testing and validation of security technologies.
  • Troubleshoot basic security system issues with direction from senior staff.
  • Apply security hardening procedures to servers, workstations, and networking equipment under supervision.
  • Implement security configurations based on CIS Benchmarks for Windows and Linux environments.
  • Conduct security baseline evaluations using automated scanning tools.
  • Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM and other tools with guidance.
  • Perform initial assessment of security incidents and escalate as needed.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation for security deployments.
  • Develop network diagrams, configuration guides, and operational runbooks under supervision.
  • Carry out basic security testing tasks under oversight.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and interpret results with support.
  • Verify that implemented security controls meet specified requirements.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of network security principles and architectural models.
  • Familiarity with firewall technologies and basic setup using platforms such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or Fortinet.
  • Understanding of common security tools including antivirus, intrusion prevention/detection, and proxy systems.
  • Knowledge of operating system security for both Windows and Linux.
  • Basic scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation purposes.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, routing fundamentals, switching, and VLANs.
  • Knowledge of network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and basic Active Directory functions.
  • Basic understanding of virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration and Linux command-line operations.
  • Awareness of cloud security concepts in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn SIEM platforms such as Splunk, QRadar, or Sentinel.
  • Familiarity with endpoint protection tools like CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, or Microsoft Defender.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools including Nessus, Qualys, or OpenVAS.
  • Understanding of network monitoring and packet analysis utilities.
  • Basic understanding of security automation and orchestration methods.
  • Strong focus on precision and accuracy in technical execution.
  • Mandatory possession of Security+ or equivalent foundational security certification.
  • Required or currently pursuing Network+ or CCNA certification.

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft or Linux certification is considered advantageous.
  • Currently pursuing CCNA Security, SSCP, or vendor-specific security certifications.

Compensation

€3000 - €4000 (GROSS) per month
