About the Role

The role involves leading infection prevention strategies within perioperative environments, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting surveillance, and supporting education and policy development to minimize infection risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead infection prevention programs in surgical and perioperative settings
  • Conduct routine surveillance for healthcare-associated infections
  • Investigate and respond to infection outbreaks promptly
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to implement best practices
  • Develop and deliver training on infection control protocols
  • Analyze infection data to identify trends and risk factors
  • Support audit processes for sterile techniques and protocols
  • Participate in policy development and revision
  • Monitor adherence to hand hygiene and PPE guidelines
  • Coordinate with environmental services for infection control
  • Assist in preparing for regulatory inspections
  • Maintain accurate records of infection incidents
  • Promote a culture of patient safety
  • Evaluate new technologies and procedures for infection risk
  • Work with occupational health on staff exposure cases
  • Report findings to leadership and quality committees
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship efforts
  • Conduct root cause analyses for infection events
  • Ensure proper isolation precautions are followed
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement projects
  • Stay current with public health guidelines and updates
  • Facilitate communication between departments on infection issues
  • Assist in onboarding and training new staff
  • Promote evidence-based infection prevention practices
