Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains, and debugs websites used for internal and external communication, ensuring proper configuration and ongoing functionality.
- Guarantees website accessibility to intended users with correct linking and security protocols in place.
- Establishes, reviews, and communicates policies related to website usage and cybersecurity practices.
- Builds web layouts, visual elements, color palettes, and structural frameworks that align with organizational communication goals.
- Investigates and assesses emerging technologies relevant to web development and user experience.
- Implements responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React, including hooks, functional components, and state management via Redux or Context API.
- Plans and carries out research with users; evaluates feedback, usability metrics, and analytics to understand user behavior in defense and security cooperation settings.
- Produces user flows, wireframes, detailed mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to illustrate design concepts.
- Executes usability tests with actual users or stakeholders, identifies problems, iterates on designs, and refines solutions for better user experience and efficiency.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including back-end developers, product managers, data scientists, and DSCA representatives, to turn designs into functional code and ensure full integration.
- Applies principles of color theory, typography, layout, visual hierarchy, and interaction design to build intuitive and visually consistent interfaces that follow DSCA design standards and templates.
- Develops and applies design systems, reusable UI components, and standardized patterns to enhance maintainability, accessibility (WCAG/Section 508), browser compatibility, and performance.
- Reviews system requirements, contributes to architectural documentation, and provides input on design-related decisions.
