Responsibilities
- Act as the permanent technical representative in Tanzania, embedded full-time within the Ministry of Health
- Become an integrated member of the ministry’s extended team, earning trust through consistent collaboration
- Develop a comprehensive, long-term understanding of national health data systems, organizational structures, and operational goals
- Foster strong relationships across all tiers of the ministry, from frontline staff to executive leadership
- Serve as the main technical liaison for all in-country activities, coordinating with launch teams, country directors, and visiting engineers
- Deliver immediate value through on-site technical engagement
- Quickly access, analyze, and integrate diverse data sources such as DHIS2, SCADA systems, network platforms, and operational databases
- Use prototyping and rapid development to understand challenges and demonstrate impact via proof-of-concepts and minimum viable products
- Evolve early-stage prototypes into robust, production-ready systems used daily by ministry staff
- Ensure long-term success of deployed systems by monitoring usage, resolving issues, and refining based on user input
- Measure and report the tangible impact generated by implemented solutions
- Advance product-led growth strategies through effective field execution
- Leverage existing tools and platforms deeply, understanding their strengths and optimal use cases within the health domain
- Capture and share insights, challenges, and effective approaches as reusable models for other teams
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for expansion and deeper impact within the host institution
- Strengthen local technical capabilities for long-term sustainability
- Collaborate directly with ministry teams to co-develop solutions and gradually transfer technical ownership
- Recruit, train, and mentor local talent in data engineering, science, and analysis to build in-country expertise
- Create practical training resources and documentation adapted to local language, context, and skill levels
- Ensure continuity between deployment and local ownership, avoiding disruption during transitions
- Inform product evolution through structured feedback from the field
- Contribute field insights to enhance core platform features via technical reviews, solution sprints, and documented patterns
- Turn ad-hoc solutions into standardized, scalable approaches so future teams can accelerate deployment
- Provide real-world input that shapes 30% of future product development priorities

- You will be based in Zanzibar for a minimum of 12 to 24 months.
- You must be self-motivated, capable of representing the company technically in-country, and proficient in using digital collaboration tools to stay aligned with global teams.
- Cultural awareness, adaptability, and a sincere commitment to the local environment are critical — this is not a temporary assignment, but a sustained engagement.
- Proficiency in local languages is highly beneficial.
