As a Firmware Engineer, you will play a key role in analyzing, refining, and debugging firmware solutions built in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems. Your work will directly impact the performance, memory efficiency, safety, and reliability of critical applications. You'll collaborate closely with test and support teams to resolve reported issues and deliver robust updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and modify existing firmware to address anomalies and improve functionality
- Optimize code for runtime efficiency, memory usage, and long-term maintainability
- Develop and validate firmware solutions using modern engineering practices in C/C++
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
- Contribute to a culture of automation, tooling, and engineering excellence
- Support product enhancement initiatives through proactive problem solving
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field is required. Candidates must have hands-on experience in embedded software development, particularly in real-time systems using C/C++. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory, as sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Background
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on firmware or control systems
- Familiarity with Python and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment
- Openness to feedback, diverse perspectives, and continuous improvement
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in Mequon, WI. Employees are expected to be on-site at least three days per week, with flexibility to coordinate schedules with their manager. The role supports a flexible work arrangement to help balance professional and personal commitments.
