Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams to assess cloud resource usage and implement optimizations such as rightsizing, auto-scaling, and instance type migrations.
- Serve as a cost-focused advisor during system design to promote cost-effective architectures, including choices between serverless, containers, storage classes, and spot usage.
- Lead initiatives to detect and remove unused or abandoned cloud assets while ensuring compliance with central FinOps policies and governance standards.
- Design and enforce automated tagging frameworks to guarantee full cost traceability across all local microservices.
- Drive adoption of unit-based cloud economics, focusing on metrics like cost per 1,000 monthly active users ($/kMAU) instead of total expenditure.
- Develop and manage technical dashboards that give engineering teams immediate feedback on how their code affects cloud spending.
- Enforce budget compliance by tracking daily expenditures against set limits and flagging deviations promptly.
- Respond to sudden cost increases by diagnosing root causes and applying technical fixes quickly.
