Role Overview
As a Field Engineer, you will work directly with clients, partners, and internal teams to deploy, integrate, and maintain software solutions for legacy systems running on emulated platforms. Your work will span both on-site and remote environments, with a focus on long-term migration projects and ongoing system support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure software systems at customer locations or remotely, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure
- Support the migration and continued operation of legacy workloads hosted on emulator environments
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity and system performance issues across heterogeneous environments
- Manage virtual machines and ensure high availability through proper configuration and monitoring
- Collaborate with sales during presales discussions to demonstrate technical capabilities and build client confidence
- Deliver projects on schedule with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of service
- Ensure customer needs are met through responsive, professional support
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience administering and recovering systems running HP-UX 11.x and Solaris 5.10.x to 5.11.4
- Strong background in Linux system and network administration, including core services and system architecture
- Experience managing disaster recovery procedures and maintaining system integrity
- Project execution skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with older versions of HP-UX (10.x–9.x) and legacy Solaris releases from SunOS 4.0.4 onward
- Hands-on experience with OpenVMS (VAX, Alpha, Integrity), Tru64 UNIX, and HP MPE-ix platforms
- Knowledge of cloud architectures and major cloud service providers
- Background in hardware and software migration initiatives
- Experience troubleshooting in mixed environments including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, VMS, and Tru64 over SAN
- Understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V
- Familiarity with LAN, iSCSI, NAS, and SAN storage infrastructures
- Exposure to enterprise application stacks like Oracle, Sybase, and RDB
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role involving both remote work and travel to client sites. You must be adaptable to different operational settings and capable of delivering consistent results regardless of location.
