BlackBerry QNX is hiring a Field Application Engineer

About the Role

Role Overview

As a Field Application Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical contact for customers across Europe, bridging the gap between client needs and internal engineering teams. Your expertise will guide clients through the adoption of advanced software solutions, supporting both pre- and post-sales activities with a focus on technical clarity and long-term engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical representative for customer-facing initiatives, coordinating between development teams, product management, and engineering services
  • Deliver technical guidance during sales cycles, including evaluating customer requirements, assessing feasibility, and supporting solution design
  • Lead technical demonstrations, benchmarking efforts, and initial system setup to support customer evaluations
  • Present technical content on-site or remotely, and represent the company at trade shows, webinars, and industry events
  • Manage technical customer relationships through all development phases, ensuring alignment from concept to commercial deployment
  • Maintain a strong understanding of competitive technologies and provide actionable insights to marketing and sales teams
  • Support customer-specific development efforts when needed, particularly around low-level system integration and optimization

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience working directly with customers in a technical capacity, particularly in embedded systems or real-time environments
  • Strong background in software development using C, C++, or Assembly, with hands-on experience in Linux-based development
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development workflows
  • Solid understanding of the automotive technology landscape and its technical demands
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with technical teams and decision-makers
  • Strategic thinking with an ability to influence technical direction and support business growth

Preferred Background

  • Experience with RTOS platforms from competing vendors such as Wind River, Green Hills, or similar

Technical Environment

Work involves C, C++, Assembly, Linux development environments, RTOS, and embedded systems with a focus on real-time performance and reliability.

Work Model

This role follows a hybrid work structure with flexibility in working location and schedule, allowing for a balanced approach to in-person collaboration and remote productivity.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life and disability coverage
  • Retirement savings and employee share purchase options
  • Generous paid time off and flexible work arrangements
  • Competitive compensation with performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Access to cutting-edge technology and continuous learning opportunities
  • Support for personal and professional development

Compensation

The base salary range is determined based on experience, qualifications, and performance potential. Additional compensation includes participation in a sales incentive program tied to quarterly or annual performance targets.

Company Environment

You'll work in an innovative, collaborative setting that values technical excellence and employee growth. The culture emphasizes hands-on problem solving, teamwork, and continuous improvement, with no use of artificial intelligence in hiring decisions.
