Terrestris Global Solutions was looking for an EOD Technician

This role supports critical unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigation and clearance efforts on the islands of Vieques and Culebra, Puerto Rico, in coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The EOD Technician will carry out field operations essential to identifying, documenting, and safely managing UXO under direct supervision, ensuring adherence to explosives safety protocols and environmental protection standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field tasks related to surface and subsurface UXO clearance, including geophysical surveys and anomaly investigations.
  • Support identification and documentation of ordnance findings, maintaining accurate logs and daily reports.
  • Perform basic excavation and survey work using hand tools and detection equipment as directed.
  • Follow all Explosives Safety Standards, Work Plans, and Site Safety and Health Plans (SSHP) without exception.
  • Assist in minimizing environmental impacts by following protocols designed to protect sensitive habitats and wildlife.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and mission briefings.
  • Operate in remote, challenging tropical environments with readiness for rapid deployment.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those set by FWS and DoD.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet DoD Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) UXO Technician I standards. Required experience includes at least five years in military EOD roles such as Army 89D, Marine Corps MOS 2336, or Navy M04A, plus graduation from an official DoD EOD school. Valid training documentation is mandatory.

Applicants must be physically capable of demanding fieldwork—lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, walking over rugged terrain, and wearing full PPE in hot, humid conditions. Willingness to deploy on short notice and work extended periods on remote islands is essential. Must pass medical evaluations and background checks.

Preferred Experience

  • Field experience on federal UXO or environmental remediation projects.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service procedures or conservation-focused sites.
  • Prior work in Puerto Rico or similar island locations.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position based on Vieques and Culebra, Puerto Rico. Work occurs outdoors in austere, tropical conditions with logistical challenges typical of remote island operations. Technicians must be prepared for rapid deployment and extended field assignments.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits include health, life, and disability coverage, retirement plans, paid leave, and professional development support. Tuition assistance, work-life programs, and recognition for outstanding performance are also provided.
