Responsibilities
- Design and deploy protective security controls to defend organizational data from unauthorized access, exposure, or exploitation.
- Continuously observe internal and external systems for potential security risks and take action on detected incidents.
- Support the creation, adoption, and enforcement of IT security policies and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with IT to strengthen infrastructure security across platforms such as AzureAD, GSuite, GitHub, and various SaaS applications.
- Guide staff on secure practices for managing endpoints, audiovisual systems, and network setups.
- Build and manage advanced data-sharing controls, including smart group policies, Data Loss Prevention systems, and related monitoring tools.
- Apply modern security principles like 'secure by default' and 'zero trust' to ensure long-term protection for developers and knowledge workers.
- Detect and resolve security weaknesses in internal systems while following data protection best practices.
- Leverage proprietary AI models to enhance threat detection, response capabilities, and automated data classification.
- Train employees on data security fundamentals and promote secure workplace behaviors.
- Help shape the future of cloud and endpoint security by tracking emerging threats and proposing strategic improvements.

Within the OpenAI Security organization, our IT team works to ensure our team of researchers, engineers, and staff have the tools they need to work comfortably, securely, and with minimal interruptions. As an Enterprise Security Engineer, you will work in a highly technical and employee-focused environment. Our IT team is a small and nimble team, where you’ll have the opportunity to dive into a wide breadth of areas and build from the ground up. We’re well supported and well resourced, and have a mandate to deliver a world-class enterprise security program to our teams.
