Engineering Test Services Manager
Lead the strategic and operational direction of integrated test centers supporting advanced aerospace development. You will direct teams across Materials and Processes, Environmental Testing, and Propulsion Test disciplines, ensuring technical rigor, resource efficiency, and continuous capability growth aligned with next-generation flight programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise technical personnel and coordinate with specialty leads to ensure effective staffing, performance, and development across test centers
- Develop and execute long-term capability roadmaps, including facility upgrades, equipment investments, and workforce planning
- Manage operational budgets, capital expenditures, and internal research and development (IRAD) funding
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to engineering programs, providing independent review and technical input during design, testing, and failure analysis phases
- Collaborate with program teams to balance technical requirements with schedule and cost constraints, identifying and mitigating risks
- Lead root cause investigations for test anomalies and production issues, driving corrective actions and process improvements
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate deep technical knowledge in at least one of the following: materials science, environmental test methods, or propulsion systems testing. Experience in laboratory or test facility operations is essential.
Required skills include technical leadership, personnel management, budget oversight, and experience with engineering standards such as ASTM, MIL-STD-810, or MMPDS. Strong communication abilities and the capacity to analyze complex, interdisciplinary problems are critical. Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for Department of Defense clearance.
Preferred Background
- Experience in aerospace systems testing, including design verification and qualification
- Familiarity with systems engineering and test-based requirement validation
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and sensor integration
- Proven track record in developing technical strategies and leading IRAD initiatives
- Background in hypersonics, rocket propulsion, thermal protection systems, or high-temperature materials
- An active DoD security clearance is advantageous
Work Environment
This role is primarily based in Mojave, CA. Full on-site presence is strongly preferred, though select hybrid arrangements may be considered for exceptional candidates. The position requires hands-on engagement with test operations and engineering teams.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $157,000 – $206,000 for Manager level; $180,900 – $237,200 for Senior Manager level. The company offers a 9/80 work schedule, comprehensive healthcare coverage, paid parental leave, a 50% company match on 401(k) contributions up to $11,500 annually, and tuition reimbursement.
