Northrop Grumman was looking for an Engineering Manager

Northrop Grumman seeks an Engineering Manager, level 2 to provide technical leadership for our Marine Systems in Sunnyvale, CA. You will lead a team specializing in the development, manufacture, assembly, and testing of complex power generation systems for next-generation naval submarines, driving technical excellence from concept through delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate a 25+ person engineering team with 2+ supporting managers.
  • Provide project and technical oversight of all design activities performed by the group.
  • Prepare cost estimates, provide proposal inputs, and review proposal content for internal and external customers.
  • Increase machinery design engineering competencies through employee development and strategic hiring.
  • Balance employee needs with business goals.
  • Provide ownership of and direction to the design processes used within the group.
  • Support department initiatives, forecasting, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, and champion continuous process improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 8 years of engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in functional and people management.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a Technical Lead, Project Manager, or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution.
  • Experience with requirements and interface management and verification.
  • Experience with design of fabricated and machined components, or design of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic subsystems.
  • Technical project management experience with proven successful execution of technical projects to cost and schedule targets.
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Understanding and knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) techniques and activities.
  • Knowledge of Design Engineering processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Experience with proposals and Earned Value Management (EVM).

Team & Environment

You will manage an integrated engineering team of 25+ engineers with 2+ supporting managers. The team consists of a diverse staff with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerothermal, Acoustics, Structural, and Systems Engineering.
