Lead the engineering function for solar and energy storage projects across commercial, industrial, utility-scale, community solar, and repurposed landfills. This role is responsible for guiding technical design, managing engineering workflows, and supporting construction through to system commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate team performance through structured assessments to support professional development and organizational alignment
- Partner with senior leadership to align engineering capacity with project demands
- Guide daily operations by fostering skill development and implementing targeted training
- Review site data, load profiles, and interconnection studies to determine optimal system configurations
- Perform shading, structural, and electrical evaluations to inform equipment choices and layout design
- Simulate energy output and financial performance using modeling tools such as PVsyst
- Select components including PV modules, inverters, racking, and balance-of-system parts based on project needs
- Oversee the creation of permit-ready and construction-grade drawings compliant with codes and client standards
- Coordinate internal and external teams to deliver complete construction documentation packages
- Manage third-party engineering partners to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables
- Define protection, monitoring, and control systems to meet grid interconnection requirements
- Develop procurement packages including equipment specs, material lists, and work scopes
- Lead technical reviews and secure permitting approvals from regulatory bodies
- Review civil, structural, and electrical designs for compliance with technical requirements
- Track emerging technologies in photovoltaics, mounting systems, and energy storage
- Provide oversight during installation to ensure adherence to design specifications
- Collaborate with EPC teams during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
- Review shop drawings, inspect equipment deliveries, and attend factory tests when necessary
- Oversee final inspections, system testing, and commissioning prior to handover
- Prepare as-built documentation, operations manuals, and warranty records
- Respond to contractor inquiries, attend construction meetings, and review quality assurance materials
- Conduct site visits to assess buildability and support construction progress
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering and have at least seven years of engineering experience in renewable energy, including three years in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated knowledge of solar equipment and National Electrical Code standards is required. Experience reviewing civil, structural, and electrical designs is essential. The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously and requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Up to 20% travel is expected. - NABCEP or PV Installation Professional Certification

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in the United States, with some remote flexibility. Occasional travel to project sites and offices may be required, up to 20% of the time.
Compensation
Annual salary range is $135,000 to $160,000. Additional compensation elements such as equity or bonuses are not disclosed at this time.
