Lead and shape the future of a core compute platform as an Engineering Manager in a fully remote, European-time-zone-aligned team. You'll oversee the architecture and delivery of foundational systems that power backend services at scale, balancing technical leadership with active coding—roughly half your time will be spent designing and optimizing core services like provisioning, orchestration, and runtime execution.
What You'll Do
- Manage, coach, and grow a team of platform engineers, fostering ownership and technical depth
- Define and evolve the architecture of distributed compute systems with a focus on scalability and resilience
- Write production-grade Golang services and contribute to infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and backend teams to align priorities and ensure seamless integration
- Establish engineering standards around observability, CI/CD, and operational reliability
- Translate business goals into technical roadmaps and lead their execution
- Champion best practices in software development, automation, and system monitoring
What We're Looking For
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role
- Deep familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch
- Proven background in building and maintaining distributed systems in Golang
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and service mesh technologies like Istio or Envoy
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools including Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK
- Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar
- Solid understanding of Linux, networking, and monitoring/alerting systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead teams, set expectations, and provide technical guidance
- A balanced approach to leadership—comfortable coding while also supporting team growth and strategic planning
Why This Role Stands Out
- Lead a critical platform team that directly impacts system reliability and developer productivity
- Continue hands-on development while growing as a technical leader
- Work with modern cloud-native technologies at scale, including Kubernetes and serverless architectures
- Influence long-term platform strategy and drive engineering excellence across teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally to solve complex infrastructure challenges
- Operate in a remote-first environment with flexibility and alignment across European hours
