Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for internal business systems that support enterprise functions including people, finance, and growth.
- Strengthen engineering quality, consistency, and team well-being to ensure predictable delivery of product objectives.
- Report directly to the Senior Vice President of Product Management within Application Management and Development.
- Provide career mentorship to technical discipline leads in engineering, quality assurance, automation, DevOps, and SRE roles.
- Serve as a technical and career guide rather than a day-to-day operational manager for delivery teams.
- Develop engineering leadership talent through structured mentorship, skill growth, and defined career progression paths.
- Identify gaps in technical capability and lead targeted improvement programs including training and hiring support.
- Contribute to hiring success by shaping job definitions, taking part in interviews, and supporting onboarding of new engineers.
- Collaborate with delivery leadership to optimize team resourcing, balance workloads, and eliminate knowledge silos.
- Create and maintain a lightweight engineering handbook with coding standards, CI/CD policies, and security practices.
- Establish a proactive strategy for managing technical debt with visibility, prioritization, and measurable reduction goals.
- Ensure uniformity in platform and integration engineering practices across technical domains.
- Encourage practical use of artificial intelligence to enhance speed, quality, and reliability in engineering and internal systems.
- Work with product and delivery teams to identify technical constraints, risks, and dependencies early in planning cycles.
- Define and oversee test automation strategies and quality benchmarks tailored to individual teams or domains.
- Champion site reliability engineering principles, including incident response, reliability targets, and post-mortem learning.
- Improve uniformity in release processes, testing rigor, and system operability across engineering teams.
- Promote standardized DevOps practices such as incremental delivery, trunk-based development, and automated quality checks.
- Foster a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing using runbooks, architecture decision records, and onboarding materials.
- Collaborate with product leadership to define and monitor Definitions of Ready and Done for development work.
- Align engineering execution with organizational frameworks to ensure consistent, high-performance team operations.
- Act as the primary engineering liaison to product leadership, clarifying decision ownership and ensuring technical health.
- Participate in enterprise architecture governance to validate solution feasibility, maintainability, and design consistency.
- Define a clear boundary of responsibilities: delivery teams manage scope and outcomes, while engineering leadership owns standards, quality, and execution health.
