BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is hiring an Engineer Senior Principal II - Space Vehicle Simulators - Program Technical Leader

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal technical authority for spacecraft simulator systems throughout all phases of program execution.
  • Define and communicate the overall system architecture for simulation platforms, integrating software, hardware, and models of spacecraft subsystems and mission payloads.
  • Lead the development of real-time simulations and model-based design efforts, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration.
  • Preside over technical reviews and internal design sessions to ensure engineering rigor and alignment.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to teams of systems and software engineers.
  • Promote cross-program collaboration to share best practices and improve technical outcomes.
  • Design and implement real-time simulations for spacecraft and space vehicle subsystems.
  • Execute full software development lifecycle tasks, including requirements definition, architecture, coding, integration, testing, and documentation.
  • Develop and verify requirements, verification strategies, and deliverable artifacts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify engineering risks and lead mitigation efforts to ensure simulation accuracy, performance, and reliability.
  • Integrate flight-representative hardware, avionics interfaces, and embedded systems into simulation environments.
  • Act as the main technical liaison between simulator teams and spacecraft programs, subsystem leads, and customer engineering groups.
  • Present simulation designs and technical progress during key reviews such as PDR, CDR, and customer-facing meetings.
  • Support program activities by providing technical input for cost account management, proposals, and contract modifications, excluding direct cost or schedule ownership.
  • Anticipate customer needs and shape simulator capabilities to enhance mission success.
  • Advance modern software practices including DevSecOps, containerization, and secure development methods.
  • Contribute to organization-wide initiatives related to risk management, technology development, and innovation opportunities.
  • Assist in technical planning and proposal efforts for new missions and programs.
  • Maintain a consistent and reliable work schedule.
  • Build and sustain productive working relationships across departments, business units, and corporate functions to support a collaborative environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Security clearance requirement: Top Secret with SCI and Polygraph.
  • Work schedule: First shift (daytime hours).
