Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain encryption systems to safeguard stored sensitive data in compliance with corporate IT governance standards.
- Operate centralized key management services and enforce encryption rules across databases, file storage, and cloud platforms.
- Assist in audits and compliance validations such as SOC2, PCI, and HIPAA by providing encryption-related evidence and controls.
- Administer partitions on Luna Hardware Security Modules for secure cryptographic functions including digital signing, hashing, and root key protection.
- Oversee backup and replication systems for virtual, physical, and cloud-based workloads to ensure data availability.
- Manage the scheduling, monitoring, and resolution of backup jobs to achieve full success rates.
- Conduct periodic backup and restore exercises to verify recovery capabilities for essential systems.
- Leverage Dell Avamar and Data Domain integration for efficient deduplication and image-level proxy operations.
- Maintain Veeam Backup & Replication solutions, including Salesforce data protection, immutable Linux repositories, and Instant VM Recovery.
- Support technologies enabling real-time replication and continuous data protection.
- Keep disaster recovery plans current and conduct quarterly failover tests to meet recovery time and point objectives.
- Ensure reliable site-to-site connectivity and storage consistency during disaster recovery scenarios.
- Install and configure Zerto Virtual Manager and Virtual Replication Appliances for real-time replication.
- Set up the Zerto Journal to enable precise point-in-time recovery, allowing rollback to moments before data corruption or ransomware events.
- Build Virtual Protection Groups for multi-tiered applications to preserve correct write order during replication.
- Automate one-click failover processes and perform non-disruptive disaster recovery testing in isolated network environments.
- Coordinate workload movement across platforms, including cloud migrations to Azure or AWS, replication between hypervisors, and intra-cloud recovery.
- Track storage capacity and performance metrics for backup repositories.
- Apply software patches, firmware updates, and version upgrades to encryption and data protection systems.
- Work with Security Operations to deploy air-gapped and immutable backups as ransomware defenses.
- Take part in the planning, deployment, testing, and support of new hardware and software, including vendor assessments.
- Lead or support design initiatives within business units, ensuring alignment with best practices and infrastructure needs.
- Respond to help requests from the Service Desk regarding hardware, software, or peripheral issues.
- Classify and prioritize incidents by severity, urgency, and business impact, tracking them to resolution.
- Escalate highly complex technical issues to senior support teams or specialized IT staff when necessary.
