About the Role
The role involves designing, testing, and refining electrical systems for ground-based communication devices used in a global satellite network.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype analog and digital circuitry for communication hardware
- Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis
- Develop schematics and PCB layouts in collaboration with layout engineers
- Conduct board-level validation and compliance testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues from prototype to production
- Work closely with firmware and RF teams to ensure system integration
- Define test plans and execute electrical verification across environmental conditions
- Support design for manufacturability and testability
- Create and maintain detailed design documentation
- Analyze failure modes and implement corrective design changes
- Interface with contract manufacturers during production ramp
- Ensure designs meet regulatory and safety standards
- Optimize designs for cost, performance, and reliability
- Lead root cause analysis for field returns
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on thermal and packaging constraints
- Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and probing tools for debugging
- Develop power distribution networks for high-speed digital systems
- Integrate sensors, power management ICs, and communication interfaces
- Support qualification testing under extreme temperature and humidity
- Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and design robustness
- Evaluate components for long-term availability and supply chain stability
- Participate in design reviews and present technical findings
- Ensure compliance with EMC and EMI requirements
- Contribute to rapid iteration cycles in a fast-paced development environment
- Maintain focus on scalability for mass production
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with satellite or wireless communication systems
- Background in consumer electronics or networking hardware
- Knowledge of DO-254 or space qualification standards
- Experience with automated test scripting
- Familiarity with Altium Designer or similar tools
- Exposure to supply chain and component obsolescence management
- Experience in a high-growth technology environment
