As an Edge Engineer, you will develop and implement secure, portable computing solutions tailored for operation in remote and disconnected tactical environments. Your work will focus on deploying AI and machine learning models to edge devices using AWS platforms such as IoT Greengrass, Snowball Edge, and SageMaker Edge Manager, ensuring performance under constrained conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver high-availability compute solutions designed for edge deployment with autonomous functionality
- Deploy and optimize AI/ML models using techniques like quantization and pruning, with real-time telemetry at the edge
- Implement zero-trust security protocols, including secure boot, artifact signing, and encryption for data at rest and in transit
- Manage containerized workloads and microservices using CI/CD pipelines, primarily through GitLab
- Orchestrate over-the-air updates and rollback procedures across low-bandwidth or intermittent connections
- Ensure seamless synchronization between edge-deployed systems and AWS Cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Agile and extreme programming frameworks to solve complex technical challenges
Qualifications
You must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in edge computing using AWS technologies. Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect is required. You should also have proven experience in deploying optimized machine learning models, implementing security controls, and working within containerized, microservice-based environments.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with SD-WAN, 5G/NextG, satellite communications, hybrid architectures using AWS Outposts, and practices such as Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), vulnerability scanning, and compliance-as-code. Top Secret clearance is a plus.
Work Environment & Benefits
This role follows a hybrid work model, combining remote flexibility with periodic on-site collaboration at client or company facilities. The position requires the ability to obtain at least a Secret security clearance.
Comprehensive benefits include health, disability, and life insurance, retirement planning, paid leave, tuition assistance, and programs supporting work-life balance and professional development. Exceptional performance is recognized through an awards program aligned with organizational values.
