About the Role

Role Overview

This position supports ecological consulting services through a combination of field investigations and technical documentation. Work includes assessing natural communities, conducting species surveys, and contributing to environmental compliance efforts across terrestrial and coastal environments in the southeastern U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out field studies focused on wildlife, vegetation, and habitat conditions, following established scientific protocols
  • Document and analyze plant and animal species using digital data collection tools
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, including environmental assessments, biological evaluations, and permitting documentation
  • Support compliance with environmental regulations such as NEPA, ESA, CWA, and state-level requirements
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver studies on time and within budget
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary projects requiring ecological expertise
  • Work under the guidance of senior staff while managing assigned tasks independently
  • Travel occasionally to project sites within the region

Qualifications

  • Proven understanding of ecological systems in Florida and the southeastern United States
  • Background in botany, wildlife ecology, or related environmental science disciplines
  • Experience conducting field surveys and identifying native flora and fauna
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly for technical and regulatory reports
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection methods and data management
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and state environmental policies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team settings and adapt to varied project demands
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment with both office and field components

Work Environment

This role is based in Tampa, Florida, with a hybrid work model allowing flexibility between field, office, and remote settings. The position supports a diverse portfolio of local and national projects, offering opportunities to contribute to environmentally significant initiatives across multiple regions.
