In this role, you will define the long-term vision for underwriting operations, ensuring alignment with financial goals, regulatory standards, and technological advancement. You'll play a central role in driving automation through the Sapiens Underwriting Pro platform, aiming to achieve high straight-through processing rates while maintaining disciplined risk selection.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute underwriting strategies that balance growth, profitability, and system-enabled efficiency
- Oversee enterprise risk governance across automated and manual decisioning processes
- Establish standardized underwriting policies and risk frameworks aligned with pricing and compliance requirements
- Lead and mentor teams across underwriting, analytics, and compliance, including direct supervision of technical roles
- Integrate underwriting rules with the UW Pro decisioning engine to optimize processing speed and accuracy
- Monitor performance metrics for both risk outcomes and operational efficiency
- Drive digital transformation by refining business rules and supporting system enhancements
- Collaborate with actuarial, product, legal, and IT leaders to shape product design and risk strategy
- Ensure audit readiness and effective change management for system updates
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes and emerging technologies to enhance underwriting capabilities
- Foster a culture of inclusion, leadership development, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, actuarial science, or a related field, with over 10 years of progressive experience in life insurance underwriting, including at least five years in leadership. Proven success in aligning underwriting practices with technology platforms is essential. Expertise in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and business rules engines is required. Advanced credentials such as FALU, FLMI, or CLU are preferred, as is direct experience with Sapiens UW Pro and straight-through processing initiatives.
