About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the engineering function in developing and deploying autonomous systems, combining technical depth with team leadership to deliver reliable, scalable solutions in dynamic environments.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute long-term technical vision aligned with product goals
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of skilled software and systems engineers
- Establish engineering best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
- Collaborate closely with product and research teams to transition prototypes into production
- Drive architecture decisions for scalable, reliable autonomous systems
- Oversee system integration across hardware, software, and machine learning components
- Ensure robustness, safety, and compliance in real-world operating environments
- Manage engineering timelines, milestones, and delivery commitments
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to maintain technical edge
- Lead incident response and post-mortem processes for system failures
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams on requirements and integration
- Optimize development workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Champion documentation and knowledge sharing across engineering
- Support recruiting efforts to attract top-tier engineering talent
- Set performance expectations and conduct regular feedback cycles
- Align engineering priorities with business and funding objectives
- Manage technical debt and infrastructure scalability
- Ensure data privacy and cybersecurity standards are met
- Represent engineering in executive discussions and strategic planning
