As Director of Actuarial, you'll report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer and serve as a strategic partner in building a sustainable, profitable insurance model. Your work will directly influence pricing strategies, reserve analysis, and data integrity across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing rate reviews and advise on adjustments to maintain competitiveness and margin
- Evaluate product performance to identify opportunities for growth and improved profitability
- Lead quarterly reserve analyses, projecting ultimate loss ratios by business line
- Collaborate with capital and reinsurance partners to align financial outcomes with strategic goals
- Own data quality and access for the Underwriting team, ensuring reliable inputs for decision-making
- Define and monitor key performance metrics that reflect the health of the business
- Support regulatory filings to secure approvals for rates and products in admitted states
- Advance segmentation strategies that position pricing as a competitive differentiator
What We’re Looking For
You bring over a decade of actuarial experience in insurance pricing or reserving, with a proven ability to translate complex models into actionable insights. A bachelor’s degree is required, and FCAS designation is strongly preferred. You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and you think beyond calculations to understand how actuarial work fits into broader business strategy.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $200,000 – $225,000, with a 15% bonus target and ISO stock options offered as part of the total compensation package.
