WPP Media is hiring a Director, Growth

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of key pitch stages, including RFI/RFP processes, written submissions, and presentations for Tier 2 and 3 pitches under guidance from senior directors.
  • Lead development of written content, creative materials, and presentation narratives.
  • Define and assign core workstreams and designate responsible parties across all pitch phases, including coordination of the full pitch team.
  • Manage execution to meet strategic pitch goals, refine briefs, interpret client objectives, and balance innovation with resource constraints and ROI considerations.
  • Act as project driver for Tier 1 pitches by maintaining deadlines, creating project plans, and coordinating with team members to ensure timely delivery.
  • Proactively escalate obstacles and challenges to leadership.
  • Serve as facilitator by ensuring transparent communication, supporting business leads with necessary resources, and guiding support staff with strategic input.
  • Develop and maintain a distinct, client-focused narrative tailored to each opportunity in Tier 2 and 3 pitches.
  • Adapt messaging to reflect client-specific needs, industry landscape, and competitive environment.
  • Ensure storylines are grounded in insights and showcase the full scope of media capabilities.
  • For Tier 1 pitches, gain deep understanding of all components supporting the proposed narrative.
  • Assemble and customize initial draft responses on agency credentials, operating models, and other standard sections using internal libraries and expert input.
  • Create briefs for pitch theater design and guide creative teams through ideation, concept presentation, feedback integration, and final execution.
  • Verify compliance with all physical setup requirements for in-person meetings and ensure printed materials are proofread and distributed to all participants.
  • Identify and establish alignment points across different functional areas within media teams.
  • Lead coordination efforts with cross-functional teams, pitch leads, and subject matter experts to advance all workstreams.
  • Act as the main contact for resolving issues and sharing critical information among team members.
  • Deliver consistent updates to the pitch team and review draft status reports to ensure clarity and accuracy in communication.
  • Build strong partnerships with integrated agency team growth leads to position media capabilities effectively within broader proposals.
  • Support partner agency teams in understanding media workflows, strategic inputs, and data requirements necessary to fulfill briefs.
  • Set and communicate daily priorities and supervise junior staff involved in pitch efforts.
  • Ensure high-quality output by reviewing deliverables before distribution, verifying accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation of meeting outcomes and action items.
  • Confirm appropriate team members are included in pitch engagements.
  • Inspire and mentor junior talent by modeling best practices and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and ongoing enhancement across all aspects of pitch execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of key pitch phases including RFI/RFPs, written deliverables, and presentations with oversight from Group Directors for Tier 2 & 3 pitches.
  • Drive the written deliverables, creative assets, and presentation content.
  • Establish and define key workstreams and owners for all pitch phases, including the overall pitch team.
  • Manage execution and deliver on objectives of overall pitch vision including iteration of the brief, synthesis of key client objectives, and balancing opportunity to go beyond the brief with resources and return on investment.
  • For Tier 1 pitches, serve as a Driver: keeping teams on deadline, building project plans and timelines, and working with pitch team members to enforce those deadlines.
  • Communicate roadblocks to leadership proactively.
  • As a Facilitator, provide clear communications for all pitch team members, partner with pitch business leads to ensure they have what they need for workstreams, and provide strategic direction to Growth support team members.
  • Craft and maintain a strong, differentiated, and client-centric story for each opportunity for Tier 2 & 3 pitches.
  • Tailor messaging to address client needs, market context, and competitive dynamics.
  • Ensure the narrative is insight-led and reflects the best of WPP Media’s capabilities.
  • For Tier 1 pitches, thoroughly understand all elements required for the articulated narrative.
  • Curate RD1 draft content responses to agency credentials, operating models, etc., from our library and from subject matter experts (SMEs), customizing for each opportunity.
  • Build briefs for design team pitch theater and guide design teams for brainstorms, presentation of theater ideas, ensure feedback is incorporated following review, and pitch theater is executed flawlessly.
  • Ensure all mandatories are met for tabletop setups in live meetings and all printed deliverables are proofed and inclusive of every attendee.
  • Establish points of alignment between disciplines across WPP Media workstreams.
  • Drive the process with WPP Media cross-functional teams, pitch leads, and SMEs to ensure progress on all workstreams.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for troubleshooting and facilitating information for team members.
  • Provide ongoing, proactive communication to all pitch team members and review Growth support's draft for end-of-day, end-of-week status recaps for pitch team to ensure accuracy and clarity of communication.
  • Develop strong relationships with WPP IAT growth leads to strongly present WPP Media in the overall story.
  • Help WPP partner agency growth teams understand WPP Media processes and strategic and data inputs/outputs needed to successfully meet brief deliverables.
  • Reinforce day-to-day priorities and manage junior team members supporting each pitch.
  • Ensure their output is executed flawlessly (e.g., review work prior to distribution to pitch teams to ensure accuracy and thoroughness, meeting notes accurately capture the discussion, next steps, and owners are clearly included).
  • Confirm correct team members are invited to pitches.
  • Foster motivation and provide a role model for junior talent to illustrate best practices and a high-performance mindset.
  • Reinforce a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
