Responsibilities
- Lead and develop teams focused on data and analytics engineering, recruiting talent and strengthening expertise in distributed data processing, stream processing, and event-driven system design.
- Establish clear ownership for platform components and data products, and define performance goals and hiring strategies.
- Enhance engineering practices for development, testing, documentation, release processes, and service-level agreements.
- Collaborate with data product managers to structure data assets as versioned, well-documented products with defined ownership and SLAs.
- Oversee administration, reliability, governance, and growth of a Snowflake-based data platform supporting scalable pipelines for high-volume batch and streaming data.
- Manage data platform security, access controls, cost optimization, capacity planning, and compliance.
- Standardize DBT deployment processes, environment promotion workflows, and configuration management.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform to ensure consistent, auditable infrastructure provisioning.
- Build monitoring, observability, data lineage, and quality frameworks to support auditability and regulatory reporting.
- Lead the evolution of data ingestion, warehousing architecture, and transformation frameworks.
- Optimize performance, cost, reliability, and scalability of data transformation and storage systems.
- Define and enforce engineering standards across the data lifecycle, including SLAs and reliability metrics for critical data assets.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams on event messaging, streaming architecture, and data ingestion using platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or Flink.
- Design and develop a unified Player 360 data foundation integrating transactional, behavioral, and event-level data.
- Ensure application data models support analytical, product, and regulatory requirements downstream.
- Evaluate and balance real-time versus batch processing approaches based on business needs and cost-efficiency considerations.
