Novo Nordisk is hiring a Data Engineer

Join Novo Nordisk as a Data Engineer within our R&D Data Platforms & Integrations team. You will be responsible for building a unified data foundation to enable AI and scientific advancement, designing and maintaining critical data pipelines, and establishing a modern data lake architecture.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop and maintain data pipelines and analytics solutions
  • Design and build a foundational platform for a modern data lake architecture, optimising it for scalability, flexibility, and performance
  • Develop automated tests to ensure data accuracy and quality
  • Continuously improve the platform to boost developer productivity and act as an internal expert and sparring partner on how the organisation gets the most out of Databricks
  • Leverage your expertise in cloud development to design and implement innovative digital solutions focused on delivering business insights and patient care in real time

What We're Looking For

  • Educational background in Computer Science and Software Development
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming
  • Extensive experience with Databricks on Azure or AWS
  • Experience in using Spark, including Spark SQL and understanding of how to optimize Spark performance
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices — CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing
  • Fluent in English both in writing and spoken
  • Open to feedback to grow new soft skills
  • Works independently and attends to deadlines

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to data mesh or domain-oriented data architecture
  • Experience working with OMOP or other clinical data standards
  • Working in pharma domain or other regulated area is considered an advantage

You will join the Data Platforms & Integrations team within R&D, consisting of around 15 colleagues in Denmark, UK and India. This is an onsite position based in Søborg, Denmark.
