Mizuho Americas Services LLC is hiring a Cyber Security Engineer to lead critical cyber security initiatives. In this role, you will focus on enhancing our existing security tools and driving key projects to completion.
What You'll Do
- Lead cyber security initiatives and drive projects/solutions to completion.
- Provide additional oversight of the security engineering function.
- Call out and highlight gaps/deficiencies and identify compensating controls.
- Report on projects and BAU items to the Director of Security.
- Guide/lead other team members and serve as a backup as necessary.
- Be part of on-call rotation with the rest of the security engineering team.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading security engineering or cyber defense teams at scale, ideally in complex, distributed environments.
- Deep understanding of modern security operations, detection engineering, and automation frameworks.
- Strong technical background with experience in systems engineering, software development, or network architecture.
- Expertise with tools and platforms: Splunk, XSOAR, CrowdStrike, ExtraHop/Reveal(x), Netskope, Tenable, JIRA, GitLab, Ansible.
- Scripting proficiency in Python and/or PowerShell.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive large-scale security initiatives.
- Understanding of the SDLC and project management concepts.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows OSes required.
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Required to be part of on-call rotation.
