Oklo Inc. is hiring a Core Mechanical Design - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Design and develop mechanical systems critical to reactor core functionality, ensuring performance, safety, and manufacturability through advanced engineering practices and simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts for reactor core components
  • Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD tools
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis to validate designs
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to align component specifications
  • Support prototyping, testing, and design iteration cycles
  • Ensure designs comply with industry codes and safety standards
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve production issues
  • Optimize designs for reliability, maintainability, and cost
  • Document design rationale, calculations, and test results
  • Participate in design reviews and technical audits
  • Integrate feedback from cross-functional stakeholders
  • Apply DFMEA and other reliability analysis methods
  • Manage design changes through formal control processes
  • Support licensing and regulatory documentation efforts
  • Troubleshoot field or test anomalies related to mechanical systems
  • Mentor junior engineers on design best practices
  • Stay current with advancements in materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Contribute to innovation in modular and scalable system design
  • Ensure alignment with long-term product roadmap
  • Work under minimal supervision on complex technical challenges
