Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Coordinator Medical Coding/Claims (Remote) - Pediatrics Central Administration

Responsibilities

  • Sends clinical queries to providers and delivers documentation feedback; collaborates with compliance leadership on coder and physician education initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource for inpatient coders and supports onboarding of new staff; conducts regular and unscheduled coding audits.
  • Monitors and resolves billing edits in Epic and responds to appeals to support timely and accurate claim submissions.
  • Reports to supervision on unresolved physician documentation gaps and workflow-impacting issues.
  • Manages Epic work queues to track dropped encounters and prepares coding topics for team meetings.
  • Acts as lead coder, covering shifts across multiple hospital divisions; reviews clinical records to assign correct CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Maintains active coding certification through ongoing education and compliance.
  • Designs and executes workflows for claims intake through to payment processing.
  • Collaborates with team members to assess project requirements, budget needs, and implements process improvements.
  • Oversees scheduling and operational processes to ensure claims are tracked and resolved efficiently.
  • Analyzes claims data and process workflows; organizes and leads training related to procedural updates.
  • Serves as point of contact between internal teams and external entities including vendors and professional associations.
  • Supports testing for projects, reviews outcomes, and provides administrative assistance as needed.
  • Creates and maintains contact lists, mailing distributions, and filing systems.
  • Provides front-desk coverage, answers calls, and handles document distribution when required.
