About the Role
We are hiring a Continuous Improvement Engineer to support lean initiatives, standard work development, and data-driven process enhancements in our Surrey, B.C. facility. This hands-on role is suited for a lean practitioner passionate about operational excellence and continuous improvement. The position requires full in-person presence and does not allow remote work.
Responsibilities
- Lead and co-lead continuous improvement workshops on production lines, focusing on standard work, workflow balance, daily management systems, visual tools, 5S, quick changeover, and mistake-proofing
- Collaborate with the CI Manager and E3 engineer to plan improvement events and guide cross-functional problem-solving sessions
- Perform value stream and process analysis to uncover inefficiencies in assigned areas
- Create and deploy standardized work instructions, including task sequences, takt time calculations, job aids, and visual references
- Monitor project milestones and provide weekly updates on progress, obstacles, and outcomes
- Conduct time studies and bottleneck assessments to detect workflow imbalances and non-value-added activities
- Propose improvements based on data analysis and validate solutions through pilot testing
- Deliver clear, concise reports of findings to leadership stakeholders
- Partner with operations teams to implement standardized procedures and visual management systems
- Establish daily management huddles where absent and support teams in maintaining consistent, structured meetings
- Audit adherence to standard work and daily management practices, identifying challenges to sustained adoption
- Train frontline staff and supervisors on following standards and escalating issues promptly
- Assist the E3 engineer in maintaining long-term gains and diagnosing regression in implemented changes
- Instruct operations personnel in structured problem-solving techniques such as PDCA and root cause analysis during projects
- Coach team leaders and operators on lean principles including visual controls, flow optimization, and waste reduction
- Support E3-led multi-line initiatives and develop strategic thinking skills
- Document standardized procedures and best practices clearly for team-wide use
- Engage in plant-wide improvement efforts and knowledge exchange programs
