Responsibilities
- Support and improve the embedded software build system for the DaVinci Single Port surgical robot.
- Maintain the development pipeline, including compiler toolchains and build infrastructure, using infrastructure-as-code for dynamic environments.
- Assist in both legacy and future product development pipelines for embedded systems.
- Collaborate with configuration release engineers, developers, database administrators, QA teams, and project managers across the software lifecycle.
- Deliver high-quality technical infrastructure to enable external product releases.
- Handle daily administration of build systems, machines, and related tools.
- Monitor build processes proactively and resolve issues such as extended build times caused by machine failures.
- Configure Windows and Linux machines—both physical and virtual—for use in emake builds, including onboarding and replacements.
- Onboard engineers by provisioning access and setup on physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Implement Bazel and CMake builds for new hardware and software platforms.
- Provide on-call support for mission-critical applications when needed.
- Contribute to the development, execution, and maintenance of infrastructure management and operations.
- Implement monitoring and health reporting systems to support self-healing infrastructure concepts.
- Collaborate with IT engineers to enhance and extend configuration, deployment, and monitoring frameworks.
- Optimize makefiles and build scripts for efficiency and reliability.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and development teams to gather requirements and document system architecture.
- Follow structured design processes using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and industry-standard techniques.
- Deploy and manage build pipelines using tools like Ansible, Jenkins, BitBucket, and GitLab CI.
- Continuously assess current systems against industry benchmarks and recommend improvements.
- Improve system performance with an emphasis on scalability and high availability.
