Students participating in Federal Work-Study (FWS) Community Service roles will be supervised by a designated representative at their assigned organization. These positions aim to support local needs and assist marginalized populations through collaborations with nonprofit, governmental, and community-focused entities.
Community Service positions are designed to enhance community residents' quality of life—especially for low-income individuals—or address specific local challenges. Depending on placement, FWS students might engage in activities such as:
Supporting healthcare, wellness, or services for individuals with disabilities
Helping with child care, early education programs, or literacy efforts
Aiding welfare services, transportation, or outreach to underserved populations
Participating in housing, neighborhood revitalization, or rural development initiatives
Contributing to public safety, crime prevention, or emergency preparedness programs
Participating in recreational activities, youth development, or community improvement efforts
I acknowledge that as a FWS student I must:
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (minimum 2.0 GPA) and at least 80% attendance. Individual departments may establish higher standards. The requirements for this agreement are:

Ensure that my FWS work does not disrupt class attendance. I cannot work on days when I cannot attend scheduled classes or during class times.
Accurately track my hours and submit signed timecards to my supervisor each pay period.
Be enrolled at least half-time or actively registered for the next term.
