RES was looking for a Commercial Manager

Lead the commercial function for the Boulder Creek Wind Farm, a key renewable energy initiative, by overseeing all contractual and financial aspects from construction through to commissioning. Reporting to the Project Director, you will ensure compliance, manage claims and variations, and maintain rigorous cost and risk controls across civil, electrical, and turbine installation scopes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct commercial administration, ensuring adherence to contract terms and timely handling of claims, variations, and formal notices.
  • Prepare and issue accurate contractual documentation and instructions to contractors and internal teams.
  • Lead a small commercial team while independently managing complex interfaces, priorities, and risk assessments.
  • Apply strong negotiation and judgment to support project decisions and align stakeholders.
  • Monitor cost performance, forecast financial outcomes, and ensure robust reporting and governance.
  • Identify performance issues and recommend corrective actions to maintain project integrity.
  • Support resolution of technical challenges related to design, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, engineers, and internal leaders.
  • Champion a culture of safety, inclusion, and alignment with core values.

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, business, or a related field is required. You must demonstrate a solid grasp of commercial frameworks in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects and have hands-on experience managing construction contracts—particularly EPC, BOP, WTG, or TSI agreements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial reporting systems is essential. A full Australian driver’s licence is mandatory.

Preferred candidates will have direct experience with civil and electrical Balance of Plant components—including access roads, foundations, cabling, and substations—as well as wind turbine generator logistics and installation. Background in renewable energy (wind, solar, or BESS), familiarity with Australian construction and safety regulations, and experience in client-side or owner’s engineer roles are strong advantages.

Work Environment and Benefits

This is a permanent full-time position with a hybrid model—three days per week in office (Sydney or Melbourne) and two days remote. The role supports professional growth within a values-driven organisation committed to employee wellbeing, diversity, and environmental responsibility.

You’ll join a global network that values inclusive leadership, continuous learning, and meaningful contributions to clean energy development. The organisation is certified as a Family Friendly Workplace and actively supports LGBTQ+ inclusion and reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Owners of Country.

Commitment to Equity and Inclusion

We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, or marital or disability status. Our culture respects diverse perspectives and lived experiences, and we are committed to creating equitable opportunities across our teams.
