Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer holds a pivotal leadership role in guiding the financial direction and long-term sustainability of a specialized healthcare facility. Reporting to executive leadership, this individual ensures sound fiscal management while directly contributing to the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that align with institutional goals and healthcare delivery priorities.
- Direct all aspects of accounting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure accuracy and transparency.
- Prepare and present financial statements, performance metrics, and analytical insights to support decision-making at the executive and board levels.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring performance, identifying variances, and implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Oversee cash flow, treasury functions, investment activities, and risk mitigation strategies to maintain financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accounting standards, and audit requirements across financial operations.
- Optimize revenue cycle performance, including billing, collections, and reimbursement processes, to maximize financial outcomes.
- Supervise supply chain and materials management to control costs and maintain efficient operations.
- Lead health information management functions, including medical coding, records, transcription, and admissions, ensuring data integrity and regulatory adherence.
- Evaluate capital projects related to clinical technology, facility improvements, and service expansion to support strategic growth.
- Provide leadership and oversight to multiple departments, including staff management, workflow coordination, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Collaborate with executive teams and organizational leaders to align financial performance with operational objectives.
- Participate in on-call administrative duties and attend meetings outside standard hours as required.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, along with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. A minimum of eight years of finance or accounting experience is required, with at least five years in healthcare settings. Three years of management-level experience are also required. CPA certification and FHFMA designation are valued qualifications.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Electronic Medical Record systems are essential for success in this role.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in Altoona, WI, requiring consistent presence to support hospital operations and leadership collaboration.
