Position Overview
Join a federal technology initiative as a Senior Check Point Firewall Engineer. This role supports critical network security infrastructure in Washington, DC, with flexible remote work options. You will play a central role in shaping and maintaining robust firewall environments aligned with government standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with client personnel to plan, design, and deploy firewall solutions, enhancements, and system upgrades.
- Lead ongoing management of Check Point firewall platforms, including configuration changes, patching, rulebase optimization, and compliance validation.
- Assess proposed changes against current security policies and implement approved updates with precision.
- Ensure all operational documentation is current, accurate, and reflects active configurations and procedures.
- Configure and fine-tune integrated security blades such as intrusion prevention, URL filtering, application control, antivirus, and advanced malware protection.
- Be available for after-hours support during scheduled maintenance windows or when responding to urgent system incidents.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in firewall engineering or a closely related cybersecurity discipline. Demonstrated expertise with Check Point technologies is required.
Technical Environment
The role operates within a Check Point-centric security architecture, leveraging multiple threat prevention layers including IPS, URL filtering, application awareness, antivirus, and advanced malware inspection capabilities.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC, with approved flexibility for remote work. Occasional on-site presence may be required to support operations or collaborate with stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 annually. Additional benefits are available in accordance with company policy, supporting health, retirement, and professional growth.
