AECOM is hiring a Cable System Design Engineer (Transmission & Distribution)

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end engineering deliverables for cable systems, spanning feasibility, conceptual design, detailed design, and support during installation and commissioning phases
  • Evaluate advanced HVAC and HVDC cable system designs, covering route planning, burial risk evaluation, and thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical performance
  • Perform system-level studies such as cable ampacity, short circuit force analysis, thermal stability, and electromagnetic interference assessments
  • Conduct engineering analyses for cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, substation, and overhead line teams to deliver cohesive, integrated designs
  • Lead third-party inspection efforts and provide technical support during factory and site acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Engage with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure designs meet IEC, CIGRÉ, National Grid Technical Prescriptions, and other international standards
  • Take part in client engagements, technical workshops, hazard identification studies, and cross-disciplinary coordination sessions
