Responsibilities
- Configure, calibrate, and run various auxiliary binding machines equipped with multiple cutting heads, control panels, or add-on components such as inkjet printers, mailing systems, case makers, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding or gluing units
- Potentially set up multi-function automated bindery systems with several workstations, including powered cutters, collators, gatherers, folders, and speed binders, which can be integrated electromechanically to form a complete finishing line for converting printed sheets into final products like books, manuals, catalogs, or magazines
- Examine machinery for potential safety hazards before and during operation
- Possibly operate automated adhesive binding systems (perfect binders) that include multiple interdependent stations, processing collated sheets or signatures through steps such as vibration, milling, surface roughening, glue application, covering, and stacking finished products
- Perform necessary adjustments to synchronize the various workstations on a single machine for optimal performance
- Lead and supervise team members throughout all stages of production
- Track product quality, output volume, and operational efficiency
