About the Role
This role involves creating and managing communication materials, supporting public engagement efforts, and providing interpretation and translation services to ensure equitable access to information.
Responsibilities
- Develop and distribute multilingual content for public consumption
- Translate written materials between English and Spanish accurately and clearly
- Support public outreach campaigns across various platforms
- Assist in drafting press releases, social media posts, and newsletters
- Serve as a liaison for non-English-speaking audiences
- Participate in community events to promote program awareness
- Monitor public feedback and media coverage
- Maintain consistent messaging across communication channels
- Collaborate with program teams to share updates and policy changes
- Provide interpretation during meetings and public forums
- Ensure compliance with language access standards
- Manage calendars and schedules for communication activities
- Track metrics to evaluate outreach effectiveness
- Respond to media inquiries under supervision
- Support crisis communication efforts when needed
- Maintain databases of community contacts and stakeholders
- Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences
- Stay current on public affairs trends and best practices
- Ensure all materials meet accessibility guidelines
- Work cross-functionally with multiple departments
- Adapt messaging for different cultural contexts
- Proofread and edit content for clarity and accuracy
- Coordinate translation workflows with external vendors
- Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information
- Contribute to strategic planning for communication initiatives
Nice to Have
- Experience in government or nonprofit communications
- Background in social services or public health
- Additional language skills beyond Spanish
- Familiarity with Oregon's public programs
- Training in crisis communication
- Experience with multimedia content creation
