About the Role
This role supports an Australian public practice by taking ownership of core accounting and compliance preparation work. It is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong Australian practice experience who can work confidently and independently in a remote environment while collaborating closely with an onshore team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and workpapers for Australian clients
- Handle day-to-day accounting tasks including reconciliations, BAS preparation, and compliance support
- Work within the Xero ecosystem, including Xero Tax, Xero Ledger, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), and FYI Docs to manage workflows and documentation
- Use software tools like Ignition, Adobe PDF, MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.), and AccountKit (preferred) to support accounting and client processes
- Liaise with onshore accountants to clarify issues, resolve discrepancies, and meet deadlines
- Support the practice lead by proactively managing workload and identifying efficiency improvements
Requirements
- 3–5 years of accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Xero stack (Tax, Ledger, XPM), FYI Docs, and general accounting software
- Proficiency in Ignition, Adobe PDF, MS Office
- Ability to quickly pick up processes and work effectively in a remote setup
- Willingness to focus on preparation and review work (no ATO lodgement responsibility)
Nice to Have
- Australian public practice experience highly preferred
- Familiarity with AccountKit is a plus
