Responsibilities
- Reports to the Regional Director and contributes to the management and successful delivery of medium to large-scale projects in healthcare, education, and defence.
- Assumes responsibility for project financial performance and supports commercial objectives within the engineering team.
- Leads a small group of engineers, offering expert mechanical design guidance and mentoring early-career and graduate staff.
- Collaborates with architects, structural and civil engineers, and, where applicable, clinical planning and end-user groups during integrated design reviews to develop coordinated solutions.
- Develops cost estimates and design timelines, aligning with clients, stakeholders, and users to define clear project outcomes across key sectors.
- Conducts and supervises quality assurance checks on mechanical calculations, technical drawings, and 3D models.
- Prepares detailed technical specifications for mechanical systems in commercial, education, defence, and healthcare facilities, adhering to standards such as BS EN, HTM/HBN, and others.
- Assists in formulating engineering budgets and project schedules to ensure alignment with project milestones, operational deadlines, and clinical commissioning timelines.
- Applies and interprets mechanical building services design software for systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic utilities, with a focus on social infrastructure like hospitals, schools, and defence buildings.
- Oversees allocation of project resources to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of agreed outputs.
