About the Role
The Assistant Press Operator plays a supporting role in preparing, running, and maintaining offset printing presses, assisting with mechanical adjustments, cleaning, and quality checks to ensure production standards are consistently achieved.
Responsibilities
- Supports Press Operators during press preparation, operation, and maintenance of sheet-fed or web offset printing equipment
- Installs packing sheets on plate cylinders to achieve correct printing height and secures reinforcing bars to offset blankets using hand and power tools
- Mounts plates and blankets onto press cylinders to establish proper printing pressure
- Adjusts components such as feeders, delivery systems, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging mechanisms, tapes, and cams using hand tools
- Helps remove and replace degraded rollers and modifies roller pressure settings as needed
- Cleans printing blankets, ink rollers, and ink fountains using solvent and built-in cleaning systems to maintain press hygiene
