Samsung Electronics America, Inc. was looking for an Assistant Manager, Accounting and Finance

Samsung Electronics Canada is looking for an Assistant Manager, Accounting and Finance to manage the general ledger, oversee month-end and year-end closing, and ensure tax compliance for the Canadian operations. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting and providing vital support to the accounting team.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing within the specified timeframe, including the preparation, reconciliation, and analysis of financial statements.
  • Request and settle office cash in compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the internal tax team to ensure accurate and timely tax filings, and liaise with HQ for weekly funding.
  • Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist in researching and preparing/reviewing tax memoranda and supporting internal/external audits.
  • Provide support to other accounting team members during absences and offer ad hoc advice as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in finance, accounting, or audit within a corporate setting.
  • At least 5 years of experience in P&L closing.
  • A recognized degree or relevant professional qualification, or currently pursuing accounting qualifications from a university, ACCA, or CPA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Good proficiency in both verbal and written English and Myanmar, along with computer literacy in ERP and Sage systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Adaptable, capable of prioritizing tasks, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a positive work attitude and a good team player.

Nice to Have

  • Registered Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the Myanmar Accountancy Council.
  • Experience in taxation, accountancy, or consultancy-related work.
